PS3 Slim Officially Announced + more info

Yes, Sony has announced the PS3 Slim (finally!) It seems that Sony are very bad at keeping secrets. First the PSP Go and now this. What next? A TV with a PS3 built-in?

Okay, lets be professional about this!

Sony officially announced the PlayStation 3 Slim on August 18, 2009 at the Sony Gamescom press conference. It will come with a 120gb upgradeable hard drive and is 33% smaller, 36% lighter, and uses 34% less power than the original PS3. It will be priced at $299/€299/£249 and is set for release on September 1st 2009 in North America and Europe, and on September 3rd in Japan and New Zealand.

Sadly, the ability to install third party operating systems such as Linux has been removed in the PS3 Slim (but don't be sad, someone might hack it!)

well i dont see a point in it. i think sony should give us ingame chat first (which i have a source and he tells me its in 3.0)

I don't have a PS3 myself so I don't know anything about that. Sorry!

I dont have one....but am planing to buy one in the future

Does this new version of PS3 have the Over Heating problem?

BTW, games are too expensive for the PS3, and when the PS3 Slim reach here, the console will be expensive

As I said, I don't have a PS3 so I don't know if it'll fix the overheating problem. I imagine it would though!

Also, with the launch of the PS3 Slim, the PS3 is getting a $100 price cut!

1st ps3 never had an overheating problem.

2nd ps3 games are same price as rest £40 and ps3 slim is only £250

My cousin bought the fat version of PS3 and said it has some overheating problems, need to be put under the fan..

£40 for 1 game for me its expensive..

I can get a PS2 and an XBOX 360 game here for £0.52 per game
